Summertime brings time apart
Our connection kept alive over phone wires
Where voices embrace, stories mingle
Lives touch across miles
The faith is kept; hearts swell
Though much is missed in physical absence:
Lilac, iris, then lilies bloom
Smell of petunia and old fashioned rose
Taste of berries, then peas and tomatoes
Sound of crickets in cool evening air
Full moon rising over the ridge
First appearance of twin spotted fawns
Such wondrous things, and I,
keeper of faith, gardens and home
With summershort hair
Favorite skimpy clothes
Skin, warm from the sun, wet from the river
yearn for your return...
In autumn, when all is faded
Seeds scattered, produce gathered
Scent of change in cool mountain air
Await your smiling face, your embrace
To stroll through falling leaves, eyes linked
The feel of my hand in yours
